Key for Boston Celtics to dethrone Bucks No. 2) Add a spark-plug scoring threat

The Boston Celtics have had one of the worst second-unit scoring punches in the entire association over the past several years, and this weakness has certainly hindered the team’s overall successes when its mattered most.

This past season alone, the C’s bench ranked at a putrid 28th overall in points per game (31.3) and 23rd overall in offensive rating (54.8).

Frankly, outside of the likes of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, there aren’t really any trustworthy players who can go out and consistently buy their own bucket.

Now, while they should certainly look to address this upsetting truth on the roster overall, in the Houdini’s opinion it’s much more vital to find a trusty scoring option to have at their disposal off the pine for when one or both of the Jays comes out of the game to catch their breath, thus preventing a hard to watch, easy to contain stagnant offense.

Yes, we’re well aware of the fact that Boston will not be flush with cash this offseason, thus making it a bit harder to find such a spark-plug scorer, but a challenge does not make this task impossible to accomplish and there are several players Brad Stevens could look to acquire on a relatively team-friendly deal.

A guy like Alec Burks would be the ideal target for the shamrocks in our opinion, but there are several other options such as Josh Hart and even Lou Williams who could be of great service to the Cs coming off the bench as a much-needed offensive spark at a relatively low cost.

A strong bench can go a long way in this league, and having a guy who can come in and create for himself would be a blessing to this top-heavy Boston Celtics squad.
