Why the Boston Celtics do it

Collin Sexton has a low salary but high expectations as he showed in a breakthrough season from a personal standpoint. Unfortunately, the Cleveland Cavaliers have yet to tangibly make strides toward respectability since Sexton made his way to Cleveland.

It seems he is on the way out of the Land, and the Cs are very much a team to watch. We’ve poked around the Sexton to the Celtics possibility because it’s a move that adds a 24-point-per-game scorer to the Jays, both 20+ point scorers themselves.

While Sexton’s scoring output would obviously be adjusted by playing alongside two All-Stars, Sexton would still add another shot-creator come crunch-time.

Why the Cleveland Cavaliers do it

Adding two cost-controlled pieces to a young core bursting to the brim with potential (Isaac Okoro, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen) is a smart move for a Cavaliers team that still isn’t very close to the top of the Eastern Conference.

Adding a few pieces able to contribute could add up to a fringe #9 or #10 seed–the NBA has announced the Play-in games will continue in 2022–and the two draft picks makes a step towards rebuilding an easier pill to swallow.
