Ring-chaser target for Boston Celtics No. 1) Wesley Matthews

As we already alluded to, the majority of free agents in which the Boston Celtics will be able to afford this offseason may not prove to be the sexiest of names, but the buzz and notoriety attatched to a player doesn’t always mean a player will be a great fit within an organization.

On the flipside, however, the inverse of this sentiment could be applied to the lesser talked about players, for sometimes those who recieve little traction within the media hoopla can prove to be rather efficient contributors.

Wesley Matthews could be that little-hype, solid impact signing for the Cs.

A 12-year veteran,  The 34-year-old wing has made a name for himself as one of the more reliable 3-and-D presences in the NBA. Throughout his career, Matthews finds himself boasting averages of 12.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and and a steal per game on 42 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from deep.

Still proving to be a quality defender — especially when navigating screens, which, according to our very own Chris Conte, is an aspect of this team that needs tweaking — as well as a solid long-ball shooter, adding a talent such as Wesley Matthews on a veteran’s minimum contract should certainly be an idea worth considering, especially considering that, behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the wing rotation is rather barren and incredibly inexperienced.
