Boston Celtics veteran free agent point guard option #1: Patty Mills

Patty Mills is a veteran point guard and NBA Champion. Like you would expect with any less splashy cheaper option, Mils is not going come in and average 15 points and 5 assists while playing 35 minutes a game, but Mills does bring a lot to the table.

Not only would he provide a veteran presence and leadership and a connection to new Celtics Coach Ime Udoka, but he also is a good shooter who can provide a good spark off the bench while providing solid point guard play.

Mills is on the wrong side of 30, as he will turn 33 in August, however, he would be a cheaper option, and wouldn’t require the C’s to give up any assets to get him. The Aussie could be a great pick up for the Celtics that is able to provide some good scoring off the bench and serves as solid back up or spot starter for Ime Udoka.

Mills seems like a great low risk option for the Celtics. Not only does he fill two glaring holes on the roster, point guard play and shooting, but he also is familiar with Ime Udoka, and would provide guidance and leadership to locker room that based on what heard about the Celtics locker room dysfunction could clearly use some guidance and leadership.
