Most valuable trade asset on Boston Celtics No. 1) Jaylen Brown
As already stated, just because we’re naming these players as being the most valuable of trade assets, it doesn’t mean we wish to see them dealt.
This sentiment is especially true when it comes to Jaylen Brown.
A first-time All-Star in 2020-21, the 24-year-old went on to have a career year during the first season under his once panned 4-year, $106 million extension.
In 34.5 minutes a night, Brown posted stellar per-game averages of 24.7 points, six rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.6 steals on 48 percent shooting from the field and just around 40 percent shooting from deep.
Formulating arguably the best wing tandem in the entire association with Tatum, the fifth-year veteran should more so be viewed as a foundational piece alongside his star cohort rather than a flippable asset during this summer.
That said, this has not stopped fans and the media — admittedly, this includes us — from thinking up trade ideas that see Jaylen Brown heading elsewhere in exchange for a player/ players that, in many people’s minds, brings this team closer to a championship.
Should a superstar like Damian Lillard become available this offseason, and should Boston be interested in pursuing him, such a trade won’t be cheap to execute and, unfortunately, will likely cost Jaylen Brown in the process.
Should the Cs wish to partake in a blockbuster deal in the near future, it would almost certainly have to involve the stud forward heading elsewhere in the process.
