Boston Celtics wings: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Evan Fournier, Romeo Langford, Aaron Nesmith, Jabari Parker, Grant Williams, Semi Ojeleye

Assuming Evan Fournier is re-signed, the Boston Celtics have a good group of wing players at the top.

Any group of players involving Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown is an elite group, but the roster also has Fournier, who should make a great bench piece next season, and Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith, two young players who have shown flashes of being solid rotational pieces.

Semi Ojeleye is an impending free agent while Grant Williams is a potential trade asset and, considering their lack of consistent production last season, it’s likely that one of them, if not both of them, will be found on the team next year.

Jabari Parker is still under contract, so he will likely serve as an end-of-bench piece or depth piece to step in when injuries occur, mainly at power forward or small-ball center, after providing some solid minutes in a short time span this past season.

The main thing holding back this group from being a top-tier group in the NBA is inexperience.

All of the players in this group are under the age of 30, and five of the eight players are 25 or younger.

The only actual veteran player who is truly good enough to be playing consistent minutes for a championship contender among this group is Fournier, who, as mentioned before, is a free agent.

Contrary to what was stated with the guards, two starting wings are set in Tatum and Brown, so the Cs should look to add (or re-sign in Fournier’s case) veteran wing players to the bench in order to not have to rely as much on young and unproven players like they did last season.

As solid as both Nesmith and Langford have proven to be at times, they just aren’t experienced enough to play significant minutes, so both should either be moved to help upgrade the team, or be used more as depth pieces for when injuries happen rather than playing big minutes.

Similar to the guard group, the team’s wings will likely gain some new players by the time this offseason ends, and if Brad Stevens makes the right moves, this group is certainly capable of becoming an elite one from top to bottom.
