Boston Celtics trade target No. 2) John Collins

The idea of John Collins being traded to the Boston Celtics has been a favorite of the Houdini’s for some time now and, recently, such a topic re-entered our thoughts just a few days ago when the folks at Bleacher Report talked about a potential sign-and-trade involving the big man heading to Beantown.

What makes his inclusion on this list more relevant is that this proposed deal by B/R involved Marcus Smart being sent to Atlanta in exchange for the fourth-year baller.

Frankly, the logic is quite simple with the concept of targeting John Collins, as he’s a player who could serve as a long-term answer at a position of need — be it at the four or even the five — and fits the timeline of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown beautifully (still just 23-years-old).

In his fourth season in the association, the big posted impressive per-game averages of 17.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and a block on 55 percent shooting from the floor and just about 40 percent shooting from deep and wound up playing a major role in Atlanta’s Eastern Conference Finals run this postseason.

He’d be a quality building block to run with the Jays and could easily prove to be that much-needed third scoring option that Boston desperately needs with Kemba Walker now in OKC.
