Which Boston Celtics players will sit atop the three main statistical categories?

Assists – Marcus Smart

Marcus Smart is expected to take on the role as the C’s new starting point guard. With the role change, he should be the primary distributor on the team.

He led the team in assists last year with 5.7 per game. Since he’ll now have the ball in his hands more, expect that number to jump up to around seven, and for Smart to lead the team in assists once again.

Rebounds – Robert Williams

This is a super weird category to predict, but since Tristan Thompson is likely to be traded, Robert Williams could be primed to drastically improve his rebounding numbers. He’ll get the minutes necessary to average eight or nine per game.

Jayson Tatum is a sneaky underdog to lead the team in this category, but Williams should have the chance to overtake him. Hopefully, Ime Udoka sees his potential and he gets the minutes he needs to lead the team in rebounding.

Points – Jayson Tatum

If this wasn’t obvious, Jayson Tatum is going to lead the way for the Boston Celtics next season. He led the team in scoring last year and will do so again next year.

He’ll have to make up for the loss of Walker, and, as a result, could push up to almost 30 points per game next year. This would surely lead the team, and if Tatum wants to set a real goal for himself, it could lead the league.
