Boston Celtics: Predicting next season’s stats leaders
By Jack Simone
Who will be the most efficient scorers on the Boston Celtics next year?
Free throw percentage – Payton Pritchard
Tremont Waters technically led in this category last season, but Kemba Walker led amongst players who got regular minutes. Payton Pritchard is the next man up for this category.
Pritchard shot 88.9 percent from the line last season. He’s due to get more minutes next year, which means more trips to the stripe and more opportunities to nail his free throws.
3-point percentage – Evan Fournier
Evan Fournier shot the ball ridiculously well during his time with the Boston Celtics last year. In the 16 games he played, he shot 46.3 percent from deep on 5.9 attempts per game.
His super-efficient shooting is one of the main reasons the Celtics are trying so hard to re-sign him this offseason. He’ll definitely take on a larger scoring load next year, but expect his efficiency to remain amazing.
Field goal percentage – Robert Williams
With the types of shots he takes, Robert Williams owns this category. In fact, if he played enough to qualify he would have led the entire league in field goal percentage last year.
Williams shot 72.1 percent from the field last season. He should be due for a larger workload in terms of scoring next season, but since the majority of his shots are at the rim, this sort of efficiency should continue.
