Boston Celtics flight risk No. 3) Evan Fournier

Acquired at this year’s deadline, Evan Fournier was brought on to the Boston Celtics to serve as a third or fourth scoring punch for the team as they tried to weather the storm of disappointment and make their way towards yet another promising postseason run.

Unfortunately, a season that started in such disarray ended in a similar fashion as the Cs were bounced in five games against the Brooklyn Nets in round one while the sharpshooting wing only managed to play 16 total regular-season games due to contracting COVID-19 early on into his tenure.

However, though his point productions did suffer due to a lack of familiarity with his teammates, his efficiency wound up improving quite considerably, as he went on to shoot 46 percent from deep and boasted a whopping 75 percent efficient field goal percentage on catch-and-shoot attempts.

Now, heading into free agency, it is believed by many that Boston and the veteran will ultimately wind up coming to terms of a contract this summer, but we at HH aren’t all that sure about calling such an act a “done deal.”

There are 3 teams, in specific, that we believe could be in play to steal away Fournier this offseason and, frankly, there could easily be a few more that we didn’t mention, for he’s a fantastic three-level scorer who’s still on the right side of 30 and, for the large part of his past season, averaged nearly 20 points per contest (while with the Orlando Magic).

Knowing that the Cs are strapped for cash, many franchises with ample cap space who are in need of scorers could shell out a bit more than Stevens may be willing to pay and, in turn, Fournier could flock towards the larger payday rather than stay put in Beantown.
