Boston Celtics land Karl-Anthony Towns for Marcus Smart, Tristan Thompson, Romeo Langford, Robert Williams, Aaron Nesmith, 2022 first round pick, 2023 first round pick swap, 2024 first round pick, 2026 first round pick

Karl-Anthony Towns would be the perfect player to form a big three with Tatum and Brown. Adding the best stretch big man in the league would be ideal.

Towns has the talent to be a perennial All-Star, but his talents are being wasted in Minnesota. With Anthony Edwards at the helm, they could restart their rebuild and form a new core around him.

Bringing Towns to Boston would allow him to compete for a championship every season. He’s only made the playoffs once in his six-year career with the Timberwolves.

There are three years left on Towns’ contract, and the Wolves are slowly running out of time to build a competent team around him. If they continue to be towards the bottom of the conference, he’ll likely end up leaving in free agency anyways.

If they want to get the most value out of him, trading him now could be smart. This is something the Celtics would have to inquire about.

Giving up Robert Williams would upset some Celtics fans, but Towns would replace him as the starting center. Williams is great, but Towns is by far the better player right now.

Towns, Tatum, and Brown would be one of the highest-scoring trios in the NBA. If Stevens could put defensive pieces around them, the Boston Celtics would be in championship talks for years to come.
