Shot creator target for Boston Celtics No. 3) Austin Rivers

After a few years suiting with the Rockets and James Harden, Austin Rivers was traded to the Knicks for essentially nothing.

Houston was never able to help Rivers achieve the potential he showed in high school and with Harden likely on the move, he was dealt to create roster space. Rivers is still a good player, but his ability to play consistently was always in question with Houston, and it remained that way with the Knicks.

In the 21 games Rivers played with New York, he scored 20+ points twice and had multiple games where he scored fewer than five points.

With the Knicks looking for someone to stabilize their offense off the bench, Rivers’ scoring woes only darkened his future with the team. At the deadline, Rivers was traded to the Thunder and was waived shortly after that.

He ended the season on the right foot with the Denver Nuggets and is now a free agent.

As inconsistent as Rivers is, he would provide a spark off the bench for the Boston Celtics and give them one more guard to go to if Pritchard or Smart gets injured.

He can shoot and can get his own, but neither are guarantees on a game-to-game basis.

If all else fails for the Cs, signing Austin Rivers would be a low-risk, high-reward signing.
