Free agent #3 Boston Celtics should add to the Jays: Montrezl Harrell, PF/C

The Boston Celtics have been called out by a few old-school media heads for not having the toughness and backbone to mix it up when things get chippy in the playoffs, so adding an enforcer like Montrezl Harrell could do away with that narrative.

While the potential for a repeat Tristan Thompson scenario–aka an overpaid big who drastically doesn’t fit the offensive schemes in Boston–is present, Harrell is an elite second-unit sparkplug option that could spruce up the second unit. At worst, his toughness and attitude could be useful when the going gets tough.

The MLE nabbed him last season and he didn’t exactly do much to raise his price-tag with the Lakers, making him a gettable gamble for the Cs frontcourt.

Free agent #4 Boston Celtics should add to the Jays: Bobby Portis, C

The same line of thinking that would land Harrell in Boston is the same school of thought that makes Bobby Portis a target in the same vein.

Portis also provides that in-your-face smash mouth style that the Cs are currently missing in their big rotation. He also provides elite floor-spacing, having shot 47% from beyond the arc in over two attempts per game.

Here’s to hoping no Celtic has the misfortune of crossing paths with Portis in the same way Nikola Mirotic did if he becomes a part of Ime Udoka’s first Boston team.
