Boston Celtics: 3 offseason deals to land gettable targets

The Boston Celtics are ready for the offseason. Ime Udoka is the head coach, Kemba Walker is gone, and Al Horford is back in Boston.

Brad Stevens wants to get this team back in a position to compete in the Eastern Conference. This means a bunch of small moves to improve the team around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

First and foremost, the team must re-sign Evan Fournier. His deal concluded at the end of last season and an extension is in order.

This puts the Celtics in a tough place financially, meaning they could only have the MLE to work with. That being said, there is still room to make roster improvements via trade.

Sign-and-trades are virtually off the table due to financial restrictions. Sorry to the fans who long for a Lonzo Ball trade to go through.

For those same reasons, the Boston Celtics won’t have much wiggle in free agency. Outside of using the MLE, Boston would have to settle for veteran minimum contracts.

On top of that, the Celtics don’t have any first-round draft picks this year. Unless they trade back up, getting players that can make an immediate impact right out of the draft is unlikely.
