Boston Celtics add some much-needed intensity

The Boston Celtics would be bringing in a hometown kid with this move. Michael Carter-Williams grew up in Hamilton, Massachusetts, and plays with an intensity that would greatly benefit the C’s.

Although Carter-Williams has never been a great three-point shooter, the other parts of his game make up for it. He shot 24.6% from deep this past season.

After winning Rookie of the Year, he struggled to find a home before ending up in Orlando. His great energy lifted the Magic up in times of need during his tenure with the team.

His defense and playmaking shine through when taking a look at Carter-Williams’ skillset. He averaged 4.2 assists per game last season on a Magic team that went through major roster changes.

He embraced the idea of taking on a smaller role in Orlando after being the focal point of teams earlier on in his career. It’s this sort of mentality that would make him the perfect addition to the Celtics’ bench.

With Kemba Walker likely on the way out, Boston will need to find cheap ways of shoring up their guard rotation. At six-foot-five, Carter-Williams can spend time at both the one and the two, without demanding starter minutes.

The combo guard is set to make $3 million next season and would be off the books after that.

Many fans complained last year about the Celtics’ lack of intensity. That won’t be a problem with Carter-Williams in the rotation.
