Boston Celtics: 2 under-the-radar offseason trade targets
By Jack Simone
As the Boston Celtics enter the first season of Brad Stevens’ front office tenure, the team has some crucial decisions ahead of them. Along with the draft and free agency, any potential trades could drastically affect the future of the franchise.
While a Kemba Walker trade remains at the forefront of discussions, there are plenty of other deals to keep an eye out for. Outside of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, no one on the Celtics should truly be considered untouchable.
Most of the Celtics’ younger players on the team have yet to earn regular rotational minutes. As a result, the C’s find themselves with a plethora of young assets to entice other teams with.
Carsen Edwards, Grant Williams, Romeo Langford, and others remain under contract and available for trade. Even Robert Williams could be dealt due to his solid trade value and inability to stay healthy.
With the number of teams rebuilding around the league, the Celtics could be in a prime position to strike a deal. They even have some solid draft capital to work with.
The Celtics own the 16th pick in this year’s draft, as well as the rights to their picks for the foreseeable future. As Tatum and Brown grow older, Stevens should look to prioritize building a quality team over taking a chance on more rookies.
The real question is, how much is Stevens willing to give up in order to build the perfect team? Could the Celtics’ roster end up looking completely different after the offseason wraps up?
