The 2020-21 offseason was always going to be a hectic and chaotic one for the Boston Celtics — typically, disappointing seasons tend to be followed up with active summers in an effort to try and get things back on track.

Of course, as we all are now aware, the splashes were made earlier than many had anticipated, for not 24 hours after the C’s campaign came to an end in their Game 5 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets, it was announced that Danny Ainge would be stepping down from his front office duties and, in his place, Brad Stevens would head on up the totem pole and take on the role of President of Basketball Operations.

Surprising doesn’t even begin to describe this aforementioned chain of events but, nevertheless, an offseason still must be had and decisions pertaining to the shamrock’s future still must be made, regardless of who’s running the show.

While things may have gotten off to a bit of a turbulent start, this should not be viewed as a sign of what’s still to come for Beantown. Many good things can still come out of this offseason and, in turn, make the team’s summer a true success.

To keep up with such a happy train of thought, today we at the Houdini present to you 3 positive predictions for what we believe will happen this offseason for the Boston Celtics:

Boston Celtics positive prediction No. 1) Cs will make a high-impact trade

Over the last several years, the stigma pertaining to the front office for the Boston Celtics has been that they’ve “almost” struck gold via trade on numerous occasions, with names such as Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, and Jimmy Butler all being linked as potential return pieces in such rumored blockbusters.

Of course, none of these moves actually wound up happening, and a big reason for why is believed to be because of the reluctance of Danny Ainge to partake in any trade that doesn’t find himself coming away as the undeniable winner.

While every team’s goal should be to win in any sort of exchange, his desire to fleece teams truly handicapped the Celtics over these last several offseasons.

However, with him now gone, perhaps less lopsided deals could be realistically sought after by this front office and, in fact, we’ve already seen rumblings that Boston could be looking into re-entering conversations for past trade targets that Ainge reportedly screwed up, most notably Indiana Pacers center, Myles Turner.

Now, while this is just one example of a past target that the previous GM and President failed to acquire, we could, in theory, see more former players that were once linked to the Cs along with new additions coming onto their radar this offseason.

At this point, due to their salary restraints, the only way Boston will be able to land a true difference-maker is via the trade market, and, based on this past season, they need someone of this ilk to reinstate themselves as being legitimate playoff contenders.

This summer, expect a high-impact trade to finally be executed.
