Boston Celtics potential next point guard #3: Malcolm Brogdon

While he has yet to earn the label of an All-Star and has a more subdued game and demeanor, making him less known to casual NBA fans, Malcolm Brogdon doesn’t need to make the annual February classic (held in March this year) to be labeled as a star around these parts.

He just averaged 21 points, six assists, and five rebounds while flashing a 45/39/84 shooting slash. That’s star quality.

There are many admirable qualities of Brogdon’s game, including the fact that he was a four-year Cavalier at Virginia who won All-American honors in his junior and senior years, as well as the ACC Player of the Year and NABC Defensive Player of the Year. Oh, and he was also the 2017 NBA Rookie of the Year. And a member of the 50-40-90 club.

Simply put, Brogdon is a better fit for the Cs at this point in his career. Clearly, the Cs cannot rely on Kemba Walker on a full-time basis any longer. With the Eastern Conference improving so much in recent years, though, regular-season wins will grow in importance. No longer can teams just walk into the second round in the #3 and #4 seeds.

If Brogdon can replicate his 2018-19 season, the Boston Celtics could earn an even higher seed than that.
