Boston Celtics’ Kemba Walker trade target #2: Malcolm Brogdon

The Indiana Pacers looked like they had everything figured just a year ago. Heading into the 2020 postseason in the Lake Buena Vista bubble on Walt Disney World’s Wide World of Sports campus, Indiana looked like a team capable of standing toe-to-toe with the other east playoff teams.

Fast forward past a dominant four-game sweep at the hands of the eventual Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat, and it was clear this Pacers team is very far from contention.

Fast forward yet another year–after the Pacers snuck into the NBA Play-in tournament at the #10 seed and ultimately failed to qualify for the postseason after a loss to the eventual #8-seeded Washington Wizards–and it’s a stunning fact that this is an overpriced, poorly fitting roster that needs to change.

Walker in Brogdon’s place doesn’t automatically make this team a postseason entrant considering the struggles the UCONN product had dragging the Charlotte Hornets to the playoffs, but it’s a step in the right direction if the Pacers want to roll the dice on immediate improvement.

For Boston, Brogdon would be a better facilitator with more of an ability to play off-ball and defend.

Oh, and he costs $14 million less than Walker and is on the right side of 30.
