It didn’t take long for the Boston Celtics to have a busy offseason.

Less than 24 hours after the Celtics were eliminated from the playoffs, the whole Celtics’ landscape was tossed asunder.

On Wednesday morning, it was reported that Celtics President Danny Ainge would be retiring and that current head coach Brad Stevens was being promoted to President of Basketball Operations, effectively ending his tenure as Boston’s head coach.

We don’t have time to get into all the details of why those decisions were made or what the impact of all that means for Boston in this piece; what I’m focusing on is the immediate future of who will be replacing Stevens as the Celtics’ head coach.

Stevens will help lead the charge to find his replacement, and several names have already been linked to the position.

Here at the Houdini, we want to lay out some of the big names, internal options, and outside the box hires that could take over the Celtics’ job and try and lead the team to their 18th banner in franchise history.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but I wanted to look at a lot of the most common names already being floated out there along with a few other “sleepers” that could have shots.

Here’s a look at some of the likely coaching candidates to be Boston’s next head coach.
