Boston Celtics news: Jayson Tatum achieves first-time Cs scoring feat
Boston Celtics fans need good news right now. Hardwood Houdini is here to help you.
On an even more somber Memorial Day than usual due to the destruction of COVID-19 almost in the rearview and the C’s Eastern Conference quarterfinals matchup against Brooklyn being bogged down by blanket Beantown beratement–that should be aimed at a small sect of bozo fans–from two of the Nets’ stars, we are here to spread some joy.
You see, any Cs fan has the right to be extremely displeased by the results of not only the playoffs thus far as well as the .500 season that preceded it. Some may see it as a lost year for the franchise that failed to take another step forward with two All-Stars under the age of 25 that had just led the team to the Eastern Conference finals.
That’s fair.
But the rise of Jayson Tatum is something we around these parts have watched with enjoyment, amazement, and a renewed sense of bewilderment every time he took the floor.
Whether it was registering the greatest comeback in regular season history against the Spurs in a 60-point effort, knocking off the Washington Wizards in the NBA’s first “win-and-you’re in” Play-in game in a 50-point effort, or engineering one of the postseason’s most clutch performances in a Game 3 upset against the Nets in yet another 50-point effort, Tatum has been the lone reason depression hasn’t hit Titletown in a year Tom Brady left the Patriots and won a Super Bowl in Tampa with Gronk.
This postseason has been particularly tough to watch for Boston Celtics fans that have sat through three double-digit losses in four games to the Nets’ villainous trio due to the demonization of the entire city by 2/3rds of it. But Tatum has made it possible not to pour a bottle of Frank’s Red Hot in the eyes due to his historic postseason run.
What history is being made exactly? Well, Tatum is putting on a scoring performance the likes of which have never been witnessed in the history of the Boston Celtics franchise:
Congratulations, Jayson, and thank you for giving us something positive to talk about.
