Boston Celtics fans, you’ve been warned: Gary Tanguay is at it again with the Jayson Tatum trade takes.

Having previously declared his intentions of wanting Tatum off the team before his contract expires–thinking that he will bolt in free agency anyway–Tanguay’s opinion of who the Cs should get in return for their 23-year-old 2x All-Star was an eyebrow-raiser.

The WEEI radio host wants Danny Ainge to swap the former Duke Blue Devil for Murray State product Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies.

He shared his controversial opinion on his verified Twitter page:

The odds of this deal happening are astronomically low, and the idea of packaging Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart for depth implies that Morant is already the type of star to carry a team by himself.

Against a Utah Jazz team lacking Donovan Mitchell, he proved capable of being the team’s second highest scorer (behind Dillon Brooks) in a winning postseason effort with 26 points. On Wednesday for the rematch, this time with Mitchell in the lineup, the Grizzlies lost despite 47 points from Morant.

Needless to say, there are levels of lunacy to this take, but Tanguay is more than likely stirring the pot and getting Boston Celtics fans talking rather than offering legitimate basketball opinions. Because dealing away your best player for a two-year veteran in the league as your primary return is baffling at best and short circuit in your brain shock at worst. Also, Morant and Kemba Walker isn’t a conceivable option (Walker wasn’t mentioned in Tanguay’s tweet) for a two-floor general backcourt in Boston.

Alas, another day, another Tanguay hot-take.

Be kind to the man, though, because he is suffering like the rest of us who are further demoralized with every Brooklyn Nets blowout of our beloved Boston Celtics.
