Boston Celtics: 2 Tristan Thompson Charlotte Hornets trades
Why the Boston Celtics do it
Picked a year before Washington with the same exact pick (#12), Miles Bridges may actually be the more desirable target for the Cs considering their lack of bench productivity.
Whereas Washington is an obvious candidate to start at the 4, Bridges may be a more malleable piece to move around in the second unit. The two forwards have shockingly similar numbers, but Bridges is a more versatile threat due to his ability to get up and down the floor and finish in transition with flashy force.
Why the Charlotte Hornets do it
Charlotte has a great thing going with LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward, and P.J. Washington in their starting lineup. Before Ball and Hayward missed time, that foursome helped the team settle into the top half of the Eastern Conference.
It might make more sense to explore what they can get for Bridges, who is under one less year of team control. While he has become a dead-eye 3-point shooter (40% on over four attempts per game), he struggled for two years and may not have an opening to re-enter the starting lineup at full health.
