Milwaukee Bucks – PJ Tucker

I’ve been advocating for the Celtics to trade for PJ Tucker for years. He took a huge step late in his career with the Houston Rockets so when he wanted out following the James Harden trade, I was completely on board with the Celtics pulling the trigger and trading for him. That did not happen.

Tucker has been a non-factor so far in his brief time with the Milwaukee Bucks. The corner three master has only been shooting a little over two threes a game and just hasn’t been as effective offensively with Giannis on the court. If he manages to find his way to the open market, the Celtics should absolutely sign him for a short-term deal.

Age isn’t an issue with Tucker as he’s aged like fine wine and cheese. Even with him being 36 years old, putting him back in a high powered, high volume offense such as Boston’s would do wonders for the team and put him back into rhythm.

In his time in Houston, he played a lot of stretch four or small ball five alongside James Harden. Tucker’s only responsibilities with the Rockets were to shoot threes and play defense, and when he was having a good day, it was a very good day. Tatum is very similar to Harden in their ability to drive to the basket and make plays for their teammates, if he is able to develop a report with Tucker, we could see shades of the 2017 Rockets out in Boston.
