We’re sure you clicked on this article with venom in your blood so, first, let us start off by adamantly stating that we at Hardwood Houdini do NOT believe the Boston Celtics should, by any means, be looking to trade Jaylen Brown this coming offseason.
The man was an absolute menace for the shamrocks in 2020-21, as he posted stellar per-game averages of 24.7 points, six rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and over half a block per game on 48 percent shooting from the floor and 40 percent shooting from deep.
With his production, Brown nabbed his first All-Star nod and looked to be on his way to an All-NBA selection by year’s end.
However, earlier this week, news broke that the 24-year-old would miss the remainder of the season as he required wrist surgery that, thereafter, entails a three-month recovery period.
To us at HH, this provided us with the opportunity to discuss players that could potentially step up in his place heading into the play-in and, should they be so lucky, the postseason.
To others, however, it was a time to capitalize on Brown being in the news to discuss attention-grabbing ideas such as offseason dealings involving the star wing.
Recently, Jeff Goodman of Stadium suggested that, should the front office see an opportunity to nab Washington Wizards star, Bradley Beal, they should pounce.
While in the past we have stated our approval of the idea to trade for Beal, should it involve the C’s forward being shipped out, we’re not necessarily all that in favor of such a move. However, this does not mean we’re totally against the idea of shopping Brown… for the right target, that is.
Now, to follow up our initial words, again, we are NOT advocating for the front office to trade Brown this summer. That said, should they search around on the trade market, we believe there are only 2 players that Danny Ainge and co. should remotely consider trading him for:
