Boston Celtics: 3 reasons Cs fans should be optimistic about next season
By Seth Quinn
Reason for Boston Celtics fans to be optimistic No. 1) Youth
Considering the Boston Celtics have been one of the better teams in the NBA, people seem to forget how young they are.
Not only are their two best players in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown just 23 and 24 years old, respectively, but they currently have the eighth youngest roster in the entire NBA, and the third-youngest roster among current playoff teams (behind the Memphis Grizzlies and Charlotte Hornets, both in the play-in games as well for their respective conferences).
The fact that the overall roster is so young indicates likely improvement next season.
Along with further improvement from the already superstar level players in Tatum and Brown, the Cs should get a boost from their two rookies who have played well this year when given the chance in Payton Pritchard and Aaron Nesmith, both of whom should provide great minutes off the bench next season.
While Boston definitely shouldn’t try to keep the exact same roster next year, if they did, they would most likely be a slightly better team than this year given their young talent.
However, if Danny Ainge does a better job at bringing in veterans to support the younger, talented players already on the roster this offseason, the team should have a much better overall roster along with the improved young players.
With the right additions, they should be back in contention for a top-four seed in the east and meeting the expectations of fans once again.
