Fallen star target for Boston Celtics No. 2) Victor Oladipo

Victor Oladipo‘s fall from grace has been well documented over the last several seasons.

After finally managing to put it all together back in 2017-18, getting himself in the right situation with the Indiana Pacers and, in turn, becoming an All-Star, his follow-up season, which was similarly as impressive, was unfortunately cut short due to a mid-season injury.

Since then, he has found himself constantly in and out of his respective team’s rotation due to various ailments, which has negatively impacted both his value and status in the league.

In fact, things have gotten so low for the 2x All-Star and former All-NBA player that, in 2020-21 alone, Oladipo has found himself suiting up for three separate franchises — Indiana, Houston, and, now, Miami.

Now, injured again with the Heat, missing nearly a month of action and counting due to a knee injury, Oladipo could realistically find himself falling out of the running for his previously desired max payday and be forced to sign a prove-it deal somewhere.

Boston should be interested in being that “somewhere.”

Despite the Celtics being a top-heavy team in the wing department, their depth at the position and, frankly overall, is unbelievably lacking. Buying low on a guy like Oladipo who, even in a “down” season is posting solid all-around averages of 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

At this point, betting on the 28-year-old getting healthy would likely be a low-risk move to make, for it would likely be a cost-efficient deal he’d be signing anyway.

His ceiling when healthy is still rather high, and adding him to a lineup already consisting of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker, and Marcus Smart truly has the potential to be lethal.
