The Boston Celtics should keep close tabs on 2 specific stars during this coming offseason

Just when things started to look up for the team during this final stretch run of the season, the Boston Celtics have seemingly come back down to their mediocre reality that has been the 2020-21 season.

Despite making it to within just two games of attaining their first NBA Finals berth in over a decade last year, the shamrocks have looked far from being a legitimate playoff contender throughout the majority of their follow-up campaign.

Through 62 games played, Boston finds themselves just two games over .500 at 32-30 and, if the season were to end today, they’d be in the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference standings.

Now, with 10 games remaining on the regular-season schedule, the team seemingly has a myriad of different outcomes that could become a reality come the conclusion of their final exhibition.

Being that Boston is just two wins behind the fourth-seeded New York Knicks, during these final two and a half weeks of action, should things go well, they could actually find themselves finishing with a top-5 record in their respective conference.

On the other hand, however, should they continue their lackadaisical level of production, they could just as easily find themselves playing in the play-in tournament and, in theory, could drop out of the race for the postseason entirely.

Either way, no matter where the Cs end up finishing this year, there is almost a zero percent chance they’ll be able to come away from the season with a championship, which means, this coming offseason, Danny Ainge and co. could find themselves being quite active on either the free agency or trade market in an effort to better equip this team for a title run come 2021-22 and onward.

Due to their salary cap restraints, should they wish to land a top-notch difference-maker, their best bet of doing so will likely be via trade and, if they opt to go this route, there are 2 stars that they should keep close tabs on:
