There are specific 3 players on the Boston Celtics that we believe are the most likely to be traded this summer
Though at one point April seemed like a rejuvenation month for the Boston Celtics, what with them going 9-2 heading into last Friday’s game along with a six-game winning streak in between, they have since come back to the reality that has been their up and down 2020-21 campaign, dropping two straight, most recently at the hands of the lesser ranked Charlotte Hornets.
At 32-29 on the year whilst being the current residents of the sixth seed out in the Eastern Conference standings, the Cs have been perhaps the most underwhelming team up to this point and, while they still have 11 games remaining on the regular-season docket as well as a postseason run to prepare for, it’s quite evident that, come the offseason, changes must be made.
To some, it’s a coaching problem that needs to be addressed while for others it’s the team’s roster must be tweaked prior to the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
In the Houdini’s humble opinion, it’s probably that we’ll be seeing an active Danny Ainge during this upcoming summer, with his ultimate goal being to try and better build around the C’s young All-Star wings, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Of course, due to their salary situation, the franchise will have a hard time finding true difference makers on the free agency market, assuming they just have the MLE at their disposal, which means, should they wish to shake things up, they’ll most likely be relegated to the trade route.
Be it to bring on a specific player or simply to just rid themselves of a contract, the Boston Celtics could easily be active on the trade market this coming summer, and we at the Houdini see 3 players, in specific, that are most likely to be offered as outgoing assets:
Boston Celtics player No. 1) Grant Williams
First up on the list is sophomore power forward, Grant Williams.
While many have grown to love the 22-year-old’s tenacity and hustle when on the hardwood over his near two-year tenure with the Boston Celtics, there are those who are quite vocal in their disdain for the man being used in the lineup, with some going as far as to say he shouldn’t even be in the league (people on Twitter are just harsh).
We at HH are somewhere in the middle of love and loathe for Williams’ game but, no matter which side we end up leaning towards, there’s no denying that, should there be an offseason trade executed, he’d most likely be a player thrown into the mix as somewhat of a sweetener.
With his youthful age coupled with his much-improved shooting stroke (converting on 37 percent of his attempts from deep) the inclusion of him in a deal as a throw-in could actually prove to be enticing for teams looking at the package on paper.
When looking at the other potential young talents opposing teams could be interested in having thrown into a deal, guys like Payton Pritchard and Robert Williams would cost them too much and Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith find themselves possessing little value to this point based on their production thus far into their careers.
With this considered, a guy like Grant Williams finds himself stationed between both of these groups, thus making him the most likely of the bunch to be traded.
