Boston Celtics: 3 potential late season free agent additions
Boston Celtics potential late season addition #3: Isaiah Thomas
The sky is blue. Grass is green. Texas has the best beef. Massachussetts has the most Dunkin Donuts chains per population. Hardwood Houdini needs to see Isaiah Thomas back in Boston Celtics green before the five-foot-nine messiah calls it a career.
Those are five facts. The last one is something we have never been shy about.
Thomas had a few nice scoring performances during his time in the Big Easy, scoring 21 points in his first two games. He sat out the team’s next two games before scoring a bucket in garbage time minutes against the Sacramento Kings–the team that drafted him–before not being retained by the Pelicans.
NBA players find it hard to gain rhythm after receiving inconsistent playing time, and the decision to not return could have been an easy one for Thomas after being inexplicably yanked from the floor after two nice performances against Eastern Conference playoff teams (Brooklyn, Atlanta).
Here we are again, with Thomas on the market. Not long ago I penned a piece asking for IT, and the C’s loss to the Charlotte Hornets, who featured former Celtic point guards Terry Rozier and Brad Wanamaker, pleading for Ainge to sign him.
Here I am again, asking once again that the most needed reunion in all of professional sports finally takes place in a season where the Boston Celtics need a hero in the worst way.
