Boston Celtics: 3 potential late season free agent additions
Boston Celtics potential late season addition #2: Darius Miller
Jabari Parker has provided solid frontcourt minutes in spurts that have allowed Jayson Tatum to slide back down to the 3 and avoid taking beatings all game long from physical 4’s.
The idea of Darius Miller would be a similar one. The six-foot-six Miller holds his own with a 225 pound frame, and does his damage from beyond the arc, averaging a career 38% 3-point efficiency rate.
While Miller does not create his own shot in the same vein as Parker, the Boston Celtics don’t need another player with isolation abilities. Come playoff time, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will need the lion’s share of those looks.
Miller’s ability to be a quick-trigger launcher on a dime can bail Boston out of trouble in the playoffs when open looks up close are tougher to come by against the behemoth big men of the Eastern Conference such as Bam Adebayo and Joel Embiid.
Shooting 40% from the field on over two field goal attempts per game, Miller was too useful for an Oklahoma City Thunder team looking to tumble down the standings and further what should be one of the all-time rebuilding efforts considering all of the draft capital they own.
He’d be a perfect fit in Beantown as a complementary sniper to the Jays.
