Boston Celtics cut Luke Kornet, sign Isaiah Thomas

Nothing personal, Luke. But if the Boston Celtics can actually land the five-foot-nine messiah and bring him home, someone has to go.

Kornet’s minutes will be filled by Tristan Thompson and Robert Williams, and Jabari Parker’s presence could mean that center minutes are the only pathway to the floor for Grant Williams as well.

Isaiah Thomas will not be returning to the New Orleans Pelicans, which means we are back on IT watch here at Hardwood Houdini. We don’t tend to be quiet observers, though.

And how could we be? Celtics Nation wants the man (the myth…) back in uniform and his presence in the rotation could be helpful on nights where Kemba Walker is out of the lineup. Payton Pritchard has scored in double digits for the past three games, but expecting that level of performance in the postseason is a tough ask of a rookie.

Thomas is a proven playoff performer, and has unfinished business in Boston. We may sound like a broken record, but this record is the voice of the fanbase, and let’s be honest…the NBA wouldn’t hate the buzz a return to Beantown would generate for one of the league’s winningest franchises ever.

All the wrongs could be righted, and good karma could be restored to the green and white. We can only hope that a storybook ending to the Celtics-IT story is forthcoming.

Next. Cs should target 'Brazilian Gallinari'. dark
