Boston Celtics Pick-A-Player: Atlantic Division
By Nick Swanson
New York Knicks – Reggie Bullock
The New York Knicks appear to be on their way back to glory and can attribute a huge part of their success to some of their impending free agents.
There are a ton of options for the Celtics to choose from. Derrick Rose, Alec Burks, Elfrid Payton, and Taj Gibson are all guys who could really make a difference in Boston. It was a tough choice but I narrowed it down to Alec Burks and the man who I decided to go with, Reggie Bullock.
With eight years of experience under his belt, Bullock would be a great veteran piece to add to the C’s relatively young roster. At 30 years old, he never really developed into a great offensive player and has been better known for his defensive ability. He’s not a stat sheet stuffer but he’s one of the more underrated off ball defenders in the league today.
On top of the veteran experience that he’ll bring, Bullock will bring that grit and grind defense that the Celtics haven’t had since Avery Bradley. The wing depth will also go a long way as it’s an area of concern right now for the Celtics.
A potential veteran minimum level contract player, Bullock shouldn’t be expensive, which is even better for the Celtics. He’s seen significant minutes consistently over the last couple seasons, ever since his 2017 breakout campaign as a member of the Detroit Pistons, and that wouldn’t change in Boston. A key wing piece off the bench for the C’s could be the real difference maker.
