Boston Celtics: 2 Golden State Warriors offseason trades

The Boston Celtics could make it six in a row with a win tonight against the Golden State Warriors at home. In a nationally televised contest from the TD Garden with the bright lights of primetime shining bright, Boston will face a Dubs squad looking to maintain their postseason play-in tournament spot.

Seeded #9 at the moment, there could be some movement down the stretch of the 2020-21 season. The New Orleans Pelicans sit three games behind Golden State at #11 and are just two games back of the San Antonio Spurs. At .500 and missing starting center and 2020 #2 overall pick James Wiseman, the Warriors are no guarantees for the playoffs.

That is, of course, unless Steph Curry plans to continue to do the unthinkable. Averaging a career-high 30.7 points, Curry is singlehandedly willing Golden State to a postseason play-in slot, all while averaging a 42% from the 3-point line in just under 12 attempts per game.

What he is doing is heroic, but if he can’t get it done, there could be some difficult discussions to be had in the offseason in the Bay. The title teams of the late-2010’s are a distant memory at this point, with the rest of the NBA catching up to–and mostly surpassing–Steve Kerr’s formerly unstoppable two-way machine.

The current core is proving incapable of winning consistently, and the injury-prone trio of Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green is only getting further away from their athletic prime.
