Isaiah Thomas has made his return to the NBA, and a large portion of Boston Celtics fans are seemingly ecstatic.

After nearly a 14 month absence from the league, the 5-9 messiah found himself signing with the New Orleans Pelicans earlier this month to a 10-day contract. During this time frame, Thomas played in three total games, two of which he logged 10-plus minutes and managed to drop double-digit points.

Despite his production during this span, however, NOLA opted not to re-sign IT following the expiration of his contract and, now, he finds himself once again looking for a job, only this time, he reportedly is piquing the intrigue of several front offices across the league and, according to Evan Massey of Hoops Analysis, the shamrocks are one of them.

The Boston Celtics should strongly consider reuniting with Isaiah Thomas

Prior to this post, we at the Houdini were already on the reunion train, as we penned a piece discussing the idea of the Boston Celtics bringing back their former franchise point guard.

With the concept now seemingly picking up steam, today we’ll be discussing 3 specific potential benefits to signing Isaiah Thomas:

Boston Celtics benefit No. 1) Lift the spirits of core players

As we’ve covered throughout pretty much the entirety of the 2020-21 campaign, the Boston Celtics have underwhelmed greatly.

Though they currently find themselves on a four-game winning streak and are three games over .500 at 29-26, based on their preseason expectations of being a top-4 contender for the Larry O’Brien trophy, barely holding onto the fifth seed out east is certainly not where many expected to see them at this point of the season.

Because of this, it’s easy to believe that the psyche amongst the players could be impacted in a negative manner. However, perhaps bringing in Isaiah Thomas, a close friend of two of the C’s top players in Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, could help instill a new sense of emotion and joy within the locker room that could, in theory, wind up bleeding onto the court.

A strong mental game is sometimes just as impactful as a physical one and bringing in IT could spark more of an emotional drive for the shamrocks.
