The Boston Celtics are surging as of late, having won eight of their last 11 games, and are currently in the midst of a four-game winning streak with the potential to cultivate even more victories when looking at their relatively easy schedule moving forward.

After enduring such a disappointing season as a whole leading up to this current stretch, where they boasted a sub-.500 record of 21-23, seeing this rise from the proverbial ashes to now hold a winning record of 29-26 and a ticket to the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference is certainly a positive sight to see.

However, even though there are still 18 games left to play in the regular season and, presumably, some playoff outings on top of this, the 2021 offseason is right around the corner and, in the Houdini’s humble opinion, it’s never too early to start planning.

Be it scouting players to potentially nab in the NBA Draft or monitoring impending free agents’ play during this final stretch of the season, there are many ways in which the C’s front office can prepare for the offseason.

Ultimately, there are many goals in which a team will set and try to accomplish during this time period, and, according to Bleacher Report, Boston’s top priority should be to evaluate the future of franchise point guard, Kemba Walker.

Bleacher Report believes the Boston Celtics must evaluate Kemba Walker’s future

Citing his fall from grace since signing a lucrative contract with the Boston Celtics two offseasons ago, writer Greg Swartz believes analyzing the veteran’s long-term fit will be a vital topic for Danny Ainge and co. to visit:

"We haven’t seen Walker’s shooting dip this low (53.4 percent true shooting) since he was on his rookie deal, and a 6’0″, 184-pound guard in his 30s with an ailing knee doesn’t project as a great defender moving forward.Owed $36 million next year with a $37.7 million player option in 2021-22, Walker no longer lives up to his contract, at least not in Boston. The Celtics should probably explore the market while he still carries some value."

While we at HH hope the former All-star can turn things around during this final stretch run of the season, unfortunately, due to his injury woes, inconsistency, and high-cost contract, it may just be in the best interest of the Boston Celtics to look into cutting ties with Walker come the offseason.
