What is that I see? Is that momentum for the Boston Celtics?

Hell yeah, it is.

After being seemingly unable to string together multiple wins in a row for much of the season, Boston has knocked off their last four opponents and roll into a marquee matchup with their historical rival, the Los Angeles Lakers, on Thursday night.

This time around will be different at the Staples Center. After taking it to the Lakers in January but ultimately falling short on a Kemba Walker buzzer-beater, the road to beating L.A. will be far smoother this time around.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis aren’t around, while Andre Drummond’s less-than-ideal transition to being the primary big man in Tinseltown could provide the Cs an easily exploitable target for the reigning champs.

Entering Thursday night’s contest by as many as a 6.5 point favorite in many sportsbooks, the Boston Celtics are in the driver’s seat to claim their fifth straight victory.

Cracking the conference’s top three has always been an uphill climb this season, with the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, and Milwaukee Bucks all making significant upgrades in the offseason. Brooklyn and Milwaukee both added former All-Stars since the conclusion of last season, while new Sixers general manager Daryl Morey crafted a lineup that better fit around his two superstars (Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid).

Boston still figured to contend for that fourth spot, and they are finally within striking distance, entering Thursday just one game behind the Atlanta Hawks, who play Milwaukee tonight.

The Houdini believes this team is right on the cusp of meeting preseason expectations, but personally wouldn’t hate for the team to add a former MVP candidate that played his best days in green and white in order to put them over the top.

Simply put: we want Isaiah Thomas, and in order to facilitate signing the former Beantown hero, someone has to go.

Here are two potential imminent roster cuts to facilitate his arrival:
