There are obvious risks in regard to the Boston Celtics pursuing Isaiah Thomas, but the potential rewards could make a reunion worth it

Now under 20 games remaining on the 2020-21 regular-season schedule, the Boston Celtics find themselves in relatively uncharted territory.

Over the past six years, the Cs have placed within the top-5 seeds in the Eastern Conference standings on five separate occasions. In 2020-21, if the season were to come to an end today, the shamrocks would find themselves slotted in as the seventh seed in the conference where, in turn, they’d be forced to take part in the league’s new play-in tournament.

Despite rostering two All-Stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Boston has arguably been the biggest disappointment in the NBA this season, and a major reason for this has been the inconsistent play from their supporting cast.

Coming into the March 25th trade deadline, many were under the impression that Danny Ainge and co. would take a swing for the fences and, in turn, bring on a player to help bolster the roster around the Jays, and the media went about linking the franchise to many of this year’s top-billed available talents.

Fast forward a few weeks later and we find that the Cs played it relatively safe, with their biggest acquisition coming in the form of veteran swingman, Evan Fournier.

Now, should the front office wish to add on more talent to the roster, they’ll need to look to the free agency market where, to be frank, pickings are slim.

That said, one available player that the Boston Celtics could find themselves linked to in the coming days is former franchise point guard, Isaiah Thomas.

Signing a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans back on April 3rd, the 32-year-old played out the duration of the deal and, now, finds himself in the market for a new opportunity.

Though playing in just three games during this span with NOLA, Thomas proved he’s still capable of producing at a professional level and, in turn, could wind up being an intriguing option for teams that are looking to add to their roster as they prepare for the postseason.

This could include the likes of Boston, as well.

Obviously, such an idea deserves some serious thoughts, with emphasis on weighing some of the pros and cons.

We’re here today to break it down:
