Boston Celtics 10-day contract target #2: Isaiah Thomas

This one doesn’t need any overthinking. Boston has lacked a guy to capably lift up teammates, and though he isn’t who he was in his first Celtics stint, Isaiah Thomas would instantly lift the Cs due to his presence in Beantown alone.

Thomas is a TD Garden legend, but one who has unfinished business in green and white. He was traded away from Boston to join LeBron James in Cleveland, but now James is in the Western Conference.

Thomas is too…for the moment. The New Orleans Pelicans are his current employers, but they are also not even in a position to qualify for the postseason play-in tournament. That’s typically not the profile of a team with a veteran that has been within reach of an NBA Finals berth as the lead dog.

The team that does profile as one IT should return to is the Boston Celtics. Who doesn’t love a comeback story? Carmelo Anthony will forever be linked to the New York Knicks on the same premise, while James’ Cleveland return was one of the most memorable moments of the last decade.

The world wants it, but nobody wants it more than Celtics fans. Hopefully, Thomas still wants it like he used to, because his presence would lend some verisimilitude to the transformation of Boston to a plucky underdog contender once more.
