Despite going 5-27 from deep through the first three quarters, the Boston Celtics had their most dominant display of ball down the stretch of Sunday’s victory of the Denver Nuggets.

In the last 14:17 of the game, Boston went on an astounding 40-8 run, 25 of which were from Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. The duo combined for 48 points & 18 rebounds and continued to prove they are here to fight.

Watching the beginning of this game, it felt like a trap game; one where we got good looks but the ball just doesn’t find the basket. However, through a team effort with some stifling defense, they showed heart and pulled it off.

The Cs held the Nuggets to just 36 percent from the field, the lowest of any opponent this year.

The Celtics held the Nuggets to just eight points on 3-23 shooting in the fourth. According to Celtics Statstiticcans that’s tied for lowest in franchise history in the shot-clock era.

Boston Celtics stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown continue to stick it to the media

The duo, Tatum especially, has been under fire as of late.

The team sits at 28-26 and in the seventh seed in the lowly east. However, they have now won five of their last six, in the heat of the criticism.

This has undoubtedly been on the backs of the Jays.

Through this 5-1 stretch, the duo has averaged 52 points per game, including a staggering 29 from Tatum on 50/40/90 shooting splits. They have heard the criticism, and Tatum spoke about a conversation him and Brown had after the Timberwolves game:

"Winning takes care of a lot. If you win games, everyone’s a little bit happier. Like I said, the outside noise is always going to be there, you can only control what you can control. Come into work every day and try to get better. We are gonna try to carry this momentum…"

On a similar topic, Boston Celtics general manager, Danny Ainge, spoke on the media:

"“I see two guys that really like each other. I think that from what I gathered, I didn’t talk to them about this, I just read it, they’re just trying to keep the noise out. There’s a lot of people out there who would try to get in between everybody on the team, for that matter. It’s a healthy thing that they got together to talk through some of that stuff, because most of the time I see most of my players on their phones just reading things.”"

These are great comments to hear both from the players and the GM. There has been constant talk about how they don’t have the grit and intensity to win when it matters. They have proved these last two games that they do.

Even though Friday’s win against the Wolvers wasn’t necessarily all that surprising, as Minnesota holds the worst record in the entire league, Denver had won eight straight, and 17 of their last 20, heading into Sunday’s game.

It was truly a great showing of overcoming adversity from the whole team, and hopefully, they can keep the wins coming.
