Trade deadline day has officially arrived and we have seen quite a bit of action. The Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic have a deal. The Celtics are acquiring Evan Fournier from the Magic for two second-round picks per ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski:

With the Celtics sitting at 21-23 at the deadline, following an absolutely brutal loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, it was obvious that moves needed to be made. The Magic, a team that sits near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, were expected to clean house, and oh did they ever.

It all started with Orlando trading away their two-time All-Star center Nikola Vucevic, to the Chicago Bulls. Then we saw the Celtics acquire Evan Fournier for the extremely cheap price of two second-round picks. Aaron Gordon, the multiple-time Slam Dunk Contest participant, was subsequently dealt to the Denver Nuggets in a blockbuster.

Fournier, a member of France’s FIBA World Cup team, is a two-time French League Rising Star, a two-time French League Most Improved Player, and a one-time French League All-Star. When he arrived in the NBA, he got his start with the Denver Nuggets.

After two years in Denver, he arrived in Orlando and ended up spending the last six and a half seasons there. A consistent starter for the Magic, the Celtics get a great potential bench piece who is a great scorer.

With his name being floated around in trade rumors for the last couple of days, Fournier had expressed the fact that he is going to stay focused on playing basketball and let everything develop on his own:

"“I have a lot of love for the franchise and the people who work here. If this is the end, it’s the end. I obviously will love the franchise and we’ll see.” – Evan Fournier"

Now, his future is known. Green and white will be his colors moving forward, and the Cs now have a bona fide second-unit scoring specialist.

It’s good to see the Boston Celtics have finally made a move to fix what was quickly becoming a sinking ship.
