Boston Celtics: The 3 Cs players with the most trade value
Boston Celtics C Robert Williams
We’re big fans of “Time Lord” here at the Houdini, and I think the likelihood of the Celtics trading Robert Williams right now is very low. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have value, though. In fact, he may have some of the highest trade value outside of Boston’s star players.
The 23-year-old center is enjoying a career year with the Celtics, averaging 7.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in just under 17 minutes a game. Williams has been playing even better as of late, scoring in double digits in seven of his last 10 games and averaging 10.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, and 2.4 assists in just 20 minutes a game in that span.
Williams is one of the most efficient players on Boston’s roster with a team-leading PER of 26.8, and he deserves more playing time. He isn’t getting that right now in Beantown, but his role could expand on a new team.
That doesn’t seem likely to happen, however.
The Celtics do really like Williams’ upside, despite his limited minutes still this season. If Boston decides to deal a couple of other post players at the deadline, that could give Williams the opportunity he’s been hoping for in Boston.
A trade involving Williams seems highly unlikely, but his value is likely pretty high. Boston should at least listen if another team comes calling for the young center, but that team would have to offer quite a bit to make the Cs part ways with “Time Lord.”
