May we be talking about Aaron Gordon in Boston Celtics green and white sooner than later?

Maybe. Trade discussions are apparently in the works.

A recent report came out from Matt Moore, a writer for The Action Network, that the Boston Celtics are considered the frontrunners for Orlando Magic forward, Aaron Gordon:

The Celtics, sitting at 21-22 as the trade deadline rapidly approaches, have been rumored to make a big move at the deadline in order to push them back into contention. Gordon to the Celtics has been a rumor for several years at this point and it appears that 2021 may finally be the year that it happens.

The rumor is that “additionally, the framework involves Evan Fournier going to Boston, with the Celtics sending a player, the two picks [first rounders to match the Houston Rockets offer], and using their Traded Player Exception.”

The Magic, considered a borderline playoff team at the onset of the season, are sitting toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference. They’re 14-28 through the first 42 games, good for 14th in the East. Orlando has been abysmal this year and the young star definitely needs a change of scenery, whether that be to Boston or somewhere else.

Through the Magic’s 42 games played, Gordon has appeared in 23 of them. He missed 19 games due to a left ankle sprain. In the games that he’s played, he’s averaged 14.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 44.2 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from three.

The other player that the Celtics are rumored to acquire, Evan Fournier, has been one of the more consistent players for Orlando not only recently but throughout his career. This year, he’s the Magic’s second-leading scorer, only behind the two-time All-Star Nikola Vucevic. Fournier is averaging a career-high 19.1 points per game to go along with his 3.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.

There have only been rumors as to the Boston Celtics player that will be included, but if you look at salaries, Kemba Walker is the most likely option. Of course, this is only a rumor but at this point in the season, rumors tend to have some grounds so keep an eye on it.
