Boston Celtics trade partner No. 2) Toronto Raptors

Recently, rumors surfaced suggesting that the Boston Celtics could be interested in trading Tristan Thompson at this year’s deadline, and the Toronto Raptors were tabbed as a potential suitor for the veteran big.

Frankly, the reasons we gave for why Masai Ujiri could be interested in dealing for Thompson could also be used to justify why he may be interested in dealing for Daniel Theis as well.

Without question, the team’s biggest weakness within their rotation is the center spot where, currently, they find themselves rolling out former Cs big, Aron Baynes who, to put it nicely, has been tremendously inconsistent serving in such a role.

Despite residing in the 11th seed in the standings, the Raptors are just a mere three wins behind the fifth-seeded shamrocks. Still in possession of stars Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam, while also rolling out the rising star himself Fred VanVleet, this team is still good enough to find themselves vying for a playoff spot come year’s end.

That is, so long as they look to tie up some of their loose ends before then.

If the Raptors wish to look into bolstering their pivot position, there are likely to be few options better and cheaper than Theis.
