Boston Celtics buyout target No. 3) Andre Drummond

Last week, we penned an article discussing 3 players in which the Boston Celtics should avoid trading for at this year’s deadline and listed was the likes of Andre Drummond.

The biggest reason as to why we believe he should not be a realistic trade target is because of his albatross contract worth $28.7 million dollars this season.

However, despite his inclusion on the “do not trade for” list, we still believe he’d be a great add to this year’s Boston Celtics team, especially if bought out, which is what we stated in the article linked to above.

"Through 25 games played, Drummond managed to post per-game averages of 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. With his specific skill set coupled with his behemoth build — standing at 6-11 and weighing in at 280 pounds — one could certainly argue that a guy like Andre Drummond would be a solid addition to this center-starved Boston Celtics squad."

With rumors suggesting that the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers will be large players in the Drummond sweepstakes if/ when he’s bought out, it would appear the Cs will have some competition to sign him.

That said, of all the possible destinations mentioned, Boston would arguably give the center the biggest role within their scheme while also allowing him to legitimately contend for a deep playoff run, assuming they find their way back on track.
