Boston Celtics: 3 long-term pieces to pursue with TPE
Boston Celtics long-term TPE option #2: Christian Wood
Christian Wood was the one thing holding the Houston Rockets together, apparently, because the team has dropped 14 straight games in his absence and appears to be barreling towards a last-place finish if the Minnesota Timberwolves can even sort of figure it out.
With a laundry list of injuries and COVID-19-related absences so far in 2020-21, the Rockets have never been a fully intact unit. That said, one would think that the team would have had a better chance of success than what they have seen so far this year.
Marquee offseason addition John Wall has had his second-best season from a scoring perspective but has gotten very little help. That has led to a career-low in assists, and his friend DeMarcus Cousins being let go by the team likely didn’t endear the two parties after a tumultuous start to the season when James Harden was still in a Rockets uniform.
Things have gotten so bad in Houston that a respected former head coach thinks it’s possible that Houston doesn’t win another game this season:
"Sirius XM NBA analyst and former Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell shared his thoughts on the Rockets during Sirius XM’s The Starting Lineup. “Houston is awful. They look like they can’t win another game.”"
Wood deserves better, and considering the Cs own all of their future first-round picks, a deal is within the realm of possibility.
