The Boston Celtics are sitting at fourth in a loaded Eastern Conference here at the mid-way point of the 2020-21 NBA season. It’s right around where many predicted them to be, but at 19-17, this has not been the season any Cs fan could have possibly hoped for.

The east’s lower class has stepped up in a huge way so far in 2020-21, with the 14th place team (Orlando Magic) sitting just six games back of the #4 seed. A sustained winning streak from anyone but the Detriot Pistons (who are neither capable of such nor even looking for such as the only team yet to reach the 11-win benchmark) puts said team right in the middle of the postseason conversation.

Boston could just as easily suffer a losing streak and find themselves having to win two play-in games for the right to even make the postseason. The possibility of the Cs not being a top-nine team in the Eastern Conference is not one that’s even worth discussing even during a difficult season.

There’s too much talent for any sort of losing streak to occur for the rest of the season, but the Boston Celtics have not seen all of their talents rise to the occasion in 2020-21.

Some need to improve ASAP in order to give the team a momentum boost before what could be a bloody trade deadline in Boston if the team doesn’t weather the storm in a difficult post-ASG stretch that includes the Brooklyn Nets, Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, and Milwaukee Bucks before the March 25th trade deadline.
