Boston Celtics: 3 former All-Star centers Cs could pursue
By Nick Swanson
Boston Celtics center option #2: Nikola Vucevic
Okay, maybe the term “sharpshooter” is a stretch, but you get the point. The perfect center for the Celtics is a player like Nikola Vucevic or Myles Turner, who won’t be included in this because everybody has been beating that drum for years. They need the kind of player who can go out and get to work in the paint but is also a threat from beyond the arch.
The now two-time All-Star, Vucevic has been having a career year down in Orlando. Averaging 24.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists on 48 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc this season, he’s developed into a legitimate three-point threat and is shooting at the clip of Embiid and Jokic.
For the past couple of seasons, he has been the face of the Orlando Magic franchise and has dragged them to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. With the Magic having no real direction and future with the roster they currently have, it’s not unrealistic to think that Vucevic will be on the move at the deadline or be dealt during the offseason.
Now yes, bringing in a two-time All-Star that’s currently at the top of his game will be expensive, how expensive though? As long as Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are still there after the dust settles, fine by me. Hopefully, the Magic would want an experienced point guard like Kemba Walker to mentor Markelle Fultz and see if they can continue to develop him!
