Boston Celtics: 4 teams that could be interested in a Kemba Walker deal
Boston Celtics’ Kemba Walker trade partner #3: Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks should not be sitting in play-in game territory considering the immense talent of third-year wunderkind Luka Doncic. Kristaps Porzingis has been underwhelming thus far in his Mavericks tenure after signing a max contract, and Doncic has been having difficulties shouldering such a tremendous offensive load in a road-heavy first half of the 2020-21 schedule.
Kemba Walker would bring Doncic another playmaker who can carry the team in stretches the Slovenian sits on the pine. The six-foot-one point guard shot 42.5% on catch-and-shoot attempts in 2019-20, so Doncic would definitely allow him to get easier looks than he has ever had in his career.
Boston Celtics’ Kemba Walker trade partner #4: Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles has two elite shot-creators in Paul George and Kawhi Leonard and has gotten away with point guard minutes going to the likes of Pat Beverly and Reggie Jackson in the season-and-a-half the pair has spent in Tinseltown.
That said, the offense stalled in the postseason against the Denver Nuggets. A 3-1 series lead was blown in the process.
This Clippers team needs to be all-in on this season because Kawhi Leonard doesn’t need to stick around if tangible steps towards the Western Conference crown–if not outright winning the west–isn’t achieved. He has an option to test the free agency waters this summer.
Walker would form a formidable “Big 3” due to the Clippers’ ability to cover up the diminutive (by NBA standards) floor general on the defensive end. Keep an eye out for the Clippers if they fall out of the top half of the Western Conference playoff picture.
