Boston Celtics: Isaiah Thomas deserving of NBA comeback
By Mark Nilon
Since parting ways with the Boston Celtics via trade from the trader himself, Danny Ainge, back in 2017, Isaiah Thomas has struggled to find a consistent home in the league.
The former All-Star and MVP candidate last saw action on the NBA’s hardwood back in early 2020 whilst suiting up for the Washington Wizards.
Despite putting up solid per-game stats of 12.2 points and 3.7 assists on 41 percent shooting from both the field and downtown, 40 games was all he got with the franchise, as they unceremoniously opted to trade the point guard to the Los Angeles Clippers, where he was waived within just days.
Former Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas deserves an NBA comeback
Through all the hardship, Thomas finally made his way back to real game action this past Friday, taking to the court while representing Team USA in the Quarterfinals for the 2022 AmeriCup and, not to the Houdini’s surprise, he played quite well.
Dropping 19 points on 47 percent shooting from the floor and 56 percent shooting from deep, IT displayed the offensive prowess Boston Celtics fans grew to love during his two and a half year stint with the franchise.
On how the 32-year-old felt after playing the game, Thomas simply said “it felt great.”
"“It’s my first time playing in a little over a year. So, you know, I was a little rusty, but it felt amazing to be out there, competing against really good players, and also representing my country. So, I was happy to be out there, it felt good, and most importantly, we got the win and we’ll be back at it tomorrow.”"
We at HH have constantly been voicing our opinion about how we believe the guard deserves to be on an NBA roster. Through the Twitterverse, we’re also aware that many fans are on the boat that we are.
Hopefully, with his impressive performance during his first outing in 381 days, he’s inched himself closer to a comeback.
